My husband and I were adamant about what we wanted out of our experience. Also, what we didn’t want.
We wanted a couple that were similar to us – working class, parents, average looking and down to earth. It sounded like a singles ad and in many ways, it was. We had sat down together and worked out exactly the couple we were looking to hook up with, and how far we were willing to go with them. As it was our first time, we were going to look around and if we saw a couple we liked, we’d work our code-word into the conversation – it all seemed very James Bond, which only added to the excitement!
When we got to the house, it took some time for us to find a couple we were both happy with. We spent 20 minutes with one couple, each of us waiting for the other to give the code word, before we decided that we needed another code word for “Not a chance!”
Sitting in the lounge room, we were eventually approached by a man who straight away made me feel comfortable. I liked his smile, and when his wife returned from the bathroom she was exactly what we were looking for. My husband and I blurted the code word for “yes” at the same time. We chatted for some time, getting to know each other without it becoming too personal. If this worked out, there’d be plenty of time to learn about our new friends.
They had been swinging for a long time, but were yet to find another couple they saw more than once. I asked about safety, and they assured me they always used protection, and more than one form. And they never took it home with them.
I looked at my husband and we both nodded.
